FOX 29's Good Day Philadelphia

Earlier this year, we announced our “Going for a Million in 2023” campaign with the goal of collecting and distributing our 1,000,000th pair of new socks by end of this year. Due to the generosity of our donors and supporters, we are excited to announce that we have achieved our goal — 1 MILLION PAIRS OF NEW SOCKS which equals 10 MILLION HAPPY AND HEALTHY TOES! The Joy of Sox Co-Founders Tom and Nancy Costello were excited to talk about this milestone and our mission on Fox 29’s Good Day Philadelphia with co-hosts Mike Jerrick and Alex Holley.

Mother Cabrini Weekly Update

For Martin Luther King Day of Service students from Cabrini University volunteered at the warehouse of The Joy Of Sox. They helped sort thousands of pairs of donated socks into areas for men, women and kids. The socks were then placed into purple plastic bags and put on shelves for later distribution to shelters.

Stroll (Schuylkill Township, PA)

Stroll, a local magazine for Schuylkill Township, PA, runs stories on interesting people and companies in their area. For the January 2023 issue, they featured township residents Tracy McGuckin and Michelle Giffroy-Rossi and The Joy of Sox.

Tracy is the board chair and Michelle is the board secretary for The Joy of Sox and they are literally neighbors!

The Budget (Sugarcreek, OH)

The Budget (Sugarcreek, OH) reported on a sock drive at Garaway Middle School local school that was inspired by The Joy of Sox, a nonprofit that provides new socks for those experiencing homelessness. The school’s student council conducted to drive for the month of October.

Two students involved in the drive and the student council will be sent Certificates of Appreciation. The socks will be delivered locally to the Tuscarawas County Friends of the Homeless Shelter.

Voice of America did a nice story on Helping Homeless with Socks.

The article tells the story of how Tom Costello, Jr., used to homelessphobic, but went on to found the nonprofit The Joy Of Sox, where he is the Chief Sock Person. Clicking on the photo will take you to a PDF of the story.

Seedlr is a new website.  And they recently did a nice story on The Joy of Sox® and Tom Costello Jr, their Chief Sock Person & Founder.

Seedlr is a community for activists to create and share content about causes and to donate to nonprofits. They aim to support local startups to worldwide organizations.  Their goal is to raise awareness for NPOs working to do good.

Bucks County Courier Times Story

Spurred on by Pope, nuns and volunteers bring “Joy of Sox” to  homeless.  The Grey Nun Academy, Yardley, PA ran a sock drive and held a sorting and packing event in October 2015.  The Buck County Courier Times covered the the event and published this video.  And a special thanks to Maryellen Glackin for her superb job on camera.

Fox and Friends Story

WOW! Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Fox & Friends did a super job with the Erin Bertel and The Joy of Sox® story (Friday July 10 8:20 am).

The emotional video clip shows the story of Erin and what happened when she discovered that the homeless need a vital item that they hardly ever get – new socks.

It’s runs 3:20 and Fox included a short commercial up front, but take a look at it if you can and please let us know your thoughts.
