A million is a lot!
For example, a stack of one million dollar bills would be about 358 feet tall, approximately the height of a 30-35 story building.
A million quarters would weigh about 25 tons or 50,000 pounds—roughly the same as a humpback whale or an average firetruck.
So, speaking of big numbers, The Joy of Sox® has a goal for 2023. And that goal is to distribute our 1,000,000th pair of new socks for those experiencing homelessness. And that’s a lot. End-to-end, they would be about 378 miles long. That’s the approximate distance from New York City to Toronto. Or Los Angeles to San Francisco. Or Denver to Salt Lake City.
But as impactful as those numbers may be, the real impact is the positive difference that those new socks make in the daily lives of those living on the streets. Please watch the YouTube videos below to hear some of their stories.
